Video processing
In order to get your data up and running as quickly and conveniently as possible, o/DAILIES analyzes your footage on the go.
Automation | Target | Usage |
---|---|---|
Smart Thumbnails | Face detection & tracking | Intelligently selects thumbnails by identifying and grouping the most prominent actors in scenes or days |
Speech detection | Audio that sounds like speech | Jump from one spoken sentence to the next instead of a fixed jump duration |
Slate detection | Video frames | Automatically identifies slate frames and sets in-points at the first speech block after the slate |
Waveform | Log file | Adds a waveform to watch as a third video layer option, if LOG file was provided |
Metadata Analysis | Filename: date | Before you've uploaded an ALE file we try to fill the database with info from your filename |
Speech Block Navigation
Unlike traditional video players that navigate in fixed time increments, o/DAILIES offers a more intuitive navigation system based on natural speech patterns.
How It Works
- Audio Analysis: When footage is uploaded, our backend analyzes the audio track to detect human speech.
- Speech Block Identification: The system identifies distinct blocks of continuous speech, separating them from silence or non-speech audio.
- Smart Navigation: Instead of jumping forward or backward by arbitrary time intervals, users can navigate directly to the next or previous speech block.
Benefits
- Context-Aware Playback: Jump between meaningful content sections rather than risking cutting off dialogue mid-sentence.
- Time Efficiency: Quickly navigate to actual content, skipping lengthy silences or technical setup periods.
- Review Optimization: Focus on evaluating performance and dialogue delivery without unnecessary scrubbing.
Automatic In-Points
When reviewing dailies, finding the actual start of a take after slate information can be tedious. o/DAILIES automates this process by intelligently detecting slates and setting in-points.
How It Works
- Visual Analysis: Our backend processes the video to detect slate frames (clapperboards).
- Audio Synchronization: The system correlates the visual slate detection with audio analysis.
- In-Point Setting: The in-point is automatically set at the first speech block following the slate, typically corresponding to the "action" call.
Benefits
- Streamlined Review Process: Playback begins at the actual content, not at slate information.
- Time Savings: No manual scrubbing needed to find the start of actual performances.
- Consistency: Provides a standardized viewing experience across all takes.
Technical Implementation
Both speech block navigation and automatic in-points rely on advanced audio and video analysis algorithms running on our backend servers. The analysis is performed during the processing stage after upload, so these features are available immediately when reviewing footage.
